Lancaster, Pennsylvania (August 1, 2010) - Jesse Stauffer, Director of IT, and Shaun Levi, Senior GIS Analyst made presentations to a joint meeting of the County IT Directors and County GIS Professionals held June 8th at the County Commissioner Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) office in Harrisburg.
Jesse Stauffer demonstrated a mobile GIS solution recently developed for the City of Philadelphia Streets and Walkways Education and Enforcement Program (SWEEP) which is responsible for educating and enforcing sanitation laws and regulations. The Department of Streets recently implemented a ticketing system deployed on ruggedized Windows Mobile devices and developed using ESRI's ArcGIS Mobile ADF. The mobile devices enable SWEEP officers to identify their location on a base map using built in Global Positioning System (GPS), auto fill a ticket with property address and owner name retrieved from parcel data, and look up violation history for a property. The built in cameras of the mobile handheld units support photographing violations and auto-tagging photographs with GPS coordinates. SWEEP officers can print tickets using mobile ruggedized Bluetooth printers.
Shaun Levi presented on geographIT's commercial web GIS product named mapJazz™, demonstrating various ways mapJazz can be put to work to support routine local government activities. She also demonstrated the ease of use and flexibility of the mapJazz system administration tools to configure and modify the map and data content, add/remove user controls, and change control settings. These tools enable non-programmers to quickly configure and maintain mapJazz specific to the needs of their organization.
