Lancaster, Pennsylvania (February 1, 2010) The County of Lehigh, Pennsylvania retained geographIT to provide professional GIS services in support of the County's recent resolution requiring UPI assignment for every legal property transaction recorded at the County. A component of the UPI will be automatically generated by geographIT's tax parcel editing tools, and County staff will be able to search and retrieve the property UPI using mapJazz™, geographIT's easy to use web-based GIS parcel viewing and mapping solution designed especially for local governments.
Professional services include geodatabase design of land records and road centerlines; migration of GIS data from ArcInfo Librarian coverages into an ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 geodatabase; implementation of geographIT’s suite of custom ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 parcel and road centerline editing tools; training road centerline and land record maintenance using editing tools; implementation and configuration of mapJazz™; and system administration training for mapJazz™.
Implementing the latest ESRI GIS technology in combination with geographIT’s editing tools and the mapJazz™ web GIS solution provides the technological foundation for implementing the County’s UPI assignment and retrieval system, said Mr. Richard Benkovic, GIS Manager for Lehigh County. The County’s fee for assigning a UPI to each legal property transaction will easily recover the cost of the technology upgrade and geographIT's services within the first year of UPI implementation.
