Lancaster, Pennsylvania (February 1, 2010) The County of York, Pennsylvania selected geographIT to prepare a GIS implementation plan, schedule, and budget that will guide the implementation of a multi-departmental GIS environment capable of supporting data sharing and improving countywide access to, and utilization of, GIS data. The project involves reviewing current departmental uses of GIS, user responsibilities and skills, GIS data sets, GIS servers and workstations, and software licenses, then developing migration strategies and associated tasks that will result in implementation of the latest ESRI enterprise GIS technology. The Implementation Plan is task oriented, describing hardware and software implementation activities, database redesign, migration of third party GIS software, and user training. The plan’s schedule reflects the sequence and duration of migration and implementation activities and the plan's budget reflects labor, hardware, software, and training costs. The Implementation Plan will enable York County to budget for implementation tasks and will provide management a useful tool for tracking progress during implementation.
